Canada is located in North America and ranks as the second-largest country in the world by total area, after Russia. The country covers about 9.98 million square kilometers, making it one of the largest territorial nations. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Arctic Ocean to the north. To the south, Canada shares a land border with the United States, which is the only country with which Canada shares a land boundary.

Canada’s northern coastline is the longest in the world, stretching over 202,000 kilometers. The country is rich in natural resources, including vast forests, lakes, and rivers, and boasts over 31,000 lakes. Canada spans multiple climate zones, ranging from Arctic conditions in the north to more temperate continental and oceanic climates in the south. Known for its scenic beauty, the country features the Rocky Mountains to the west, expansive forests, as well as northern glaciers and tundra.

Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories, and its vast size means that people living in one part of the country can be located at considerable distances from others.
